Bess of Hardwick Angling Club Membership Information.

With a maximum of only 60 members there are always platforms available at the ponds to fish, even on busy days. On a quieter day members are often fishing a pond on their own and experience the privilege of spending time in such a peaceful and beautiful environment.

The club has a busy programme of fishing matches throughout the season with anglers competing for prestigious longstenglish competing for prestigious long standing trophies. The valley is also a haven for the pleasure angler, who can while away many peaceful hours in magnificent scenery.

New members are especially welcome at the club and we have many experienced and longstanding members who are always happy to share their fishing techniques and tips, conditional upon you intently listening to their tales of ‘the ones that go away’.

Members are very generous with their time, money and knowledge, with many of them investing numerous hours each year helping to run the club's important bailiff, financial, administrative, and maintenance duties.

Charitable giving is important to club members, who nominate a ‘club charity’ each year, being the focus of the fundraising for our annual charity fund day and fishing match. Over the last 20 years, members have generously donated over £40,000 to various charities.

Fishing at the row ponds is an excellent test, even for the most experienced anglers. The 5 individual ponds, with their different natural characteristics and fish stocks provide a varied and demanding challenge.
